Social Media Fart in Church

Top 3 Ways Not to be Categorized as “That Guy

There are just some days when I open up my Social Media accounts and gag. Come on people, no one really wants to know that “you weigh 228 lbs, have rock hard abs and would @#!% yourself if you were flexible enough.”

Okay, now that I have got your attention…Let’s discuss the Top 3 things that will qualify you as “that guy

1. Posts that scream ego: Look at me; Look at me…my ego is so big the only place it will fit is on the World Wide Web!

2. Spam: Self serving business related posts must be earned, 80/20 rule! Let’s save the spam for Hawaii!

3. Online attacks: This is for people with no life. Quit airing your dirty laundry for the social media world to see…..grow a set and address the issue head on with the person you have the issue with!

“This is an Example of What Not to Do”

(these are actual posts, no user names have been shared to protect the innocent…you)

Ego Trippin gone bad:

Pretty sure that no one cares about your ego like you do; take a look at these amazing posts! (compliments of Tweeting Too Hard)

· “I mowed today with my shirt off. I'd like to say sorry to all the men who now have women with higher expectations because of me!”

· “This morning I passed what I thought was a Calvin Klein ad, but it was just a mirror...how WEIRD!”

· I don’t wear make-up when I’m in Stockton. 1. Because it’s a waste of time 2. Because I’m already prettier than everyone here.”

Spam Fest:

How many of these have you seen…..right out of the gate!

· “Thanks for following me! Interested in growing YOUR Twitter following and making $'s, on auto pilot? Click here:”

· “Click here if you need: A new car, mosquito repellant, orange road cones, a psychic, gold bars or a pooper scooper” (random)

· “ Copy our Exact and Proven campaigns and make $10,000’s a month “

Social Media Bashing:

This is not an Olympic sport guys!

· “Not-xxxxx :: Horrible Person --> xxxx IS a disgusting pervert

· @xxxx Hello --> haven't seen your fat ass around in quite some time : Glad to see you are still promoting EVIL

· Poor @xxxxx: Must be hard to be stupid and ugly. At least he also has a terrible personality”

Let's not ruin Social Media with poor posts. Play the game, play it smart and let's all do our part in making this a fun place to be!

Here’s to not being “That Guy”!

Haha! So true. I never knew there were so many 'that guys' out there prior the internet age. Its staggering that there are so many millions who have nothing to say yet find the time to to say 'nothing;..LOL

This is Exactly right & I am with the author.

It is a nice subject.I think it is really useful to all people to distinguish between the good and bad elements..very nice..

Lol, I would hate to be one of those people and reading this article. Kudos though for expressing annoyance on this issue.

Really fun to learn in this subject. This explanation with example is somewhat superb and a different subject that has be discussed. Really differenciated the wrong with the right thing. Usefull guide.

Good post..It is very important to learn "what not to do" in marketing as well as "what should be done"

It great!!
