What is RSS and, What is This Icon I Keep Seeing Everywhere?
RSS for the User
● RSS Defined: RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication- It is a web feed used by sites that produce fresh content frequently. For example; news sites, blogs, and sites that stream audio and video. For people publishing with RSS, content updates are sent automatically to a subscribers reader where they can view which content is the freshest.
● Why Subscribe to an RSS Feed: Whether you are a social media specialist or a casual websurfer, RSS is simple and effective for EVERYONE. Subscribers benefit by receiving breaking news and info from their favorite blogs and sites. When using an RSS feed for a site, the user won’t have to worry about “checking in” with the site for new content; it will automatically be forwarded to them. RSS is a killer time saving tool.
● How to Most Effectively Use RSS: All a person needs is a RSS reader. A reader is the manager of a person's subscriptions. It is used to organize updates into easy to find categories. It also posts the most recent content at the top of your organizer so you always have the freshest info, much of it only minutes old. I use and recommend Google Reader, it’s easy to use and has great organizational tools and it’s free!
● How to Subscribe to an RSS Feed: One click and Presto, you are in! By clicking the RSS icon on any site, you will be on top of the latest and hottest information loop from your favorite sites with little effort and big results. Simply click the icon and tell it which reader you want it to go to…it really is that simple.

Most useful and well defined guide about knowing RSS and Feed. 'Why Should I Offer an RSS Subscription on My Site?' makes me think that I need to implement the RSS in my site. Spliting the topics and giving definition to each and everyone helps to understand more clearly.
RSS has been so effective in so many ways to people like me who keep in touch with current times and surf the internet continually. It also helps to send out your message to all those who are interested.
I often used to wonder what this RSS is that keeps on showing itself on almost every other site I visit. Fortunately, today I stumbled upon this article that enlightened me about what RSS means and how useful it is. I never knew that it's so effective a tool. Informative artice especially when so much of interesting information is available on the internet and we want to get notified without actually visitng the site. Everything a common internet user will want to know about this RSS feature and how to use it to save time and get informed has been nicely dealt with. Great post. Loved the way the concept is explained here. I've had this tool installed on my site just like I'd added some other widgets, but to be honest, I never exactly knew what it is, how it works and what are it's benefits. Now that I know it, thanks to this informative post, I'll now keep updating my site frequently so that those who have subscribed to my RSS feed will be able to come back more often than they did. RSS has gained much popularity now-a-days and for good. Yet, it's sad that there are many people out there who don't know what it is and how to use it. I've read over and over that you need to provide fresh content daily to keep readers interested.
