Use Social Media to Make Your Company More Than Just a Logo

Logos and product placement go a long way in the online world. With that said, we can’t ignore the fact that Social Media has single handedly changed the TONE of marketing

What are some of the most successful, recognizable marketing campaigns right now?

  • Dos Equis- “The Most Fascinating Man in the World”
  • Geico- The Gecko
  • AFLAC- The Duck
  • M7M’s – The Green M&M chick

What do all of these have in common?

All of these campaigns have a recognizable spokesman that makes people feel connected with the brand!!  Their mascot gives their brand a personality of their own and makes them stand out with no celebrity endorsement needed.

Is there really a “most fascinating man in the world”?  Probably...... but, I don’t think it’s the Dos Equis dude! Never the less you can often overhear that brand of beer being ordered in the “most fascinating man in the world’s” accent. Hmm…..

Gone are the days of the toothy car sales man.  Consumers who can be reached by social networking are savvy and smart.  BE HUMOROUS.  If your product can be seen in a lighter way, go with it!  You are only as limited as your own creativity. These recognizable advertising campaigns are not the ones that beat the consumer over the head with logos and products.  Learn from this. The conversations, shared links and other non-advertisement attention this kind of marketing can grab is priceless.

Social Media has made the world smaller and much easier to access! It has made consumers feel more personally connected.  Giving your business a whimsical face allows customer interaction through any employees and another way for your brand to be recognized and stand apart in the market.

Tweet Your Own Horn

All of these advertising characters have been taken to the next level.  They have their own Tweets on Twitter, constantly keeping their product on everyone’s radar.  Updates on Twitter or a Facebook Fan Page gives you another outlet to promote your product AND for customers to communicate with you.

Your Image on a Budget

So you have the product, but CGI animals and weathered actors are not in your budget??

No worries.....The family pet or a clever photo of Uncle Bob can set you apart with your very own mascot in the Social Media world! Our friend Perry Belcher made a prediction that “Internet famous” would soon mean just plain famous because of Social Media. Set your brand apart now and have fun with it!

It's more creative to make your company a social site than just creating a logo which is more grant off...This is the theme and I accept to this because one can easily spread the popularity of the company by being a social related site and more open to all the users.

Hi,
This is a very important point that has been discussed. Nowadays where companies have a limited budget for advertising, they cant afford well-known personalities for branding their product. Animals, animated characters or even a small icon can go a long way in making an image of a brand. And why only characters, it can be a catchy tune as well, like Dell.

Pretty impressive article, I'm quite impressed with the writer's point of view on companies logos and marketing information. Many thanks for sharing it.

I think that a logo for a company need to be creative, only this can make the company distinguished among others, especially in today's competitive world. And it should be really outstanding, not just a duck or a dinosaur. It's hard to create a logo that can attract everyone - the company should select a target group.

Good article. I think you make some very strong points. Without even realizing it, I do pay attention to the ad campaigns you mentioned (Dos Equis, Geico, etc.), and the reason I pay attention and remember what they're advertising is because of their spokesperson. I appreciate that you also related it to smaller companies, as well - not everyone has the budget and/or creativity to have a spokesperson like the Gecko, but you can use that same idea and easily find something that will fit. Thanks for the article - it was helpful!

I think that this article makes a lot of sense. I can easily remember the aflac duck, probably better then I can anything that's endorsed by a celebrity. It's a lot cheaper for a company to come up with their own mascot. The article is well written, and I really like the ideas and point of view.

An extremely informative post. This article will be very useful to all budding entrepreneurs who want to improve their marketing strategy.

This is really amazing. Nowadays social media has become a very important factor in our day to day life and ti will be a great platform to use it for business purposes

I agree with the author here. If you can get in touch with the customer's emotions and give something they can relate to, you increase the chances of completing the sale. Mascots reflect a brand's identity, humor makes ads memorable and taglines send powerful messages in a single line.

The most common problem now a days facing by a number of small scale manufacturers. This is a very good idea to make our product a great success. As I am maintaining a small company this post is very much useful for me.

It is best site to select design logos for small companies because they can't spend more money for logos to advertise. The best example for this post is vodafone ads.

This is a very interesting article that gives more details aboutthe companies searching on social media.now a days to know more information regarding the companies the social media is very helpful. It is a very helpful article for the people going to know about the companies.because in the present situations social media makes the world much smaller and easy to know the information as we need very fast.

Agree to that! Social Media is really the trend these days and people market most of their products through social networking sites.so these points are very strong and it really gives great information.

Thanks.
