Social Media Profile Picture Recommendations

As we grow with the DSWA we meet new people every day. It is exciting to see so many of you out there giving this a try!!

With that said, we would like to share a priceless tid bit about your profile picture:

“A picture is worth a thousand words - your profile picture needs to have these characteristics:

  • Just you in the picture, no other people
  • Zoom right in so people know what you look like. You want them to be able to recognize you when they meet you. Don't be shy!
  • No sunglasses
  • No company logo (only on Fan Pgs)
  • Hire a photographer if needed….$$$ well invested in Yourself!!
  • USE THE SAME PROFILE PICTURE ON ALL SOCIAL SITES! (this the #1 key to branding yourself online)

As we grow in the Social Media world, we see every day how important this really is. In this "world", if you want to be taken seriously, these points are a must".

Trust us when we say...we both fought these tips for a long time but, once we decided to get serious and do it right....it quickly became apparent that this was the perfect thing to do.

“Be As You Are”

Excellent advise! I wish more would follow it. I like to see who I'm adding as a friend on Twitter or FaceBook.

I think you should also add to you "do not use" list... your baby picture.

I like have two images. The more "corporate" head shot for LinkedIn, VisualCV and OpenID. But for Twitter I like to have a little bit of fun because I allow myself to have some casual conversations and put on an alter-ego every once and awhile.
